SUMMARY:Faculty chamber recital set for March 16 - Oliver & Company
DESCRIPTION:NATCHITOCHES   Northwestern State Associate Professor of Percussion and Assistant Director of Bands Dr. Oliver Molina will be featured in a faculty chamber recital on Thursday\, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. A live stream will be available at capa.nsula.edu/livestream. \n\n\n\nMolina will perform on each work and will be joined by fellow members of Northwestern State's music faculty and students. \n\n\n\nThe program will include "NO one To kNOW one" by Andy Akiho also featuring soprano Terrie Sanders\, Kelsey McDonald on flute\, Malena McLaren on clarinet Milovan Paz on cello\, Chialing Hsieh on piano\, Harmony Marsh on vibraphone and Spencer Jones on percussion\, "Beneath the Canopy" by Philip Parker with Alexandra Parra on flute\, "Less is More" by Molly Joyce with John Price on piano and dance by Rebecca Allen\, "And Legions Will Rise" by Kevin Puts with Andrej Kurti on violin and McLaren and "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder with Paul Forsyth on saxophone\, James Zamora on bass guitar and Miguel Bustillo on drum set. \n\n\n\nAs an active percussion performer\, educator\, arranger\, adjudicator\, and clinician\, Molina has presented and performed at various state Day of Percussion events\, PASIC\, NCPP\, and other music conferences and festivals. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Percussion Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Iowa under Dr. Dan Moore. Additionally\, he is a founding member of the Omojo Percussion Duo and the Ninkasi Percussion Group. Molina is chair for PAS Education Committee and as vice president of the Louisiana PAS Chapter. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society\, National Association for Music Education\, National Society for Steel Band Educators and the College Music Society.
