DESCRIPTION:The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) is pleased to once again participate in the statewide "Lawyers in Libraries" program\, in partnership with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA)\, the State Library of Louisiana\, and the Louisiana Library Association (LLA). Now in its 12th year\, this important initiative connects Louisiana residents with local attorneys for free legal information and resources.\n\n\n\nThis year's program will take place October 20-24\, featuring both in-person consultations and virtual educational sessions on timely legal topics. The online sessions will be livestreamed daily from 12-1 pm on the LSBA Louisiana Lawyers in Libraries Facebook page.\n\n\n\nLocal residents can also take advantage of free\, 20-minute in-person consultations with District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington at either NPL Branch:\n\n\n\nMain Branch 3rd Floor Meeting Room (450 Second Street)\n\n\n	Monday\, Oct. 20 | 1-3 pm\n	Wednesday\, Oct. 22 | 11 am - 1 pm\n\nNortheast Branch Meeting Room (3129 Hwy. 71\, Campti)\n\n\n	Friday\, Oct. 24 | 10 am - 12 pm\n\nAttendees are encourages to pre-register to reserve their spot by calling the Main Branch at 318-238-9225 or the Northeast Branch at 318-238-9285. Walk-ins will be accepted as time allows. Patrons are also asked to bring any relevant documents that may assist with their questions. \n\n\n\nThe virtual legal workshops will cover the following topics throughout the week:\n\n	Monday\, Oct. 20: Bankruptcy \n	Tuesday\, Oct. 21: Child Support & Visitation\n	Wednesday\, Oct. 22: Interdictions\, Guardianships\, & Alternatives\n	Thursday\, Oct. 23: Wills & Estate Planning\n	Friday\, Oct. 24: How to Navigate Online Legal Resources\n\nThe Lawyers in Libraries partnerships provide Louisianians with essential access to legal guidance in a state where nearly one in five residents lives below the federal poverty line. Participants can receive basic information on civil legal issues and connect to free or low-cost legal aid programs. Topics often include bankruptcy\, custody\, divorce\, evictions\, foreclosures\, taxes\, wills\, and more.
