SUMMARY:Showtime: LSU's Spectacular Pistol Pete Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Please join us at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum as we open our latest exhibit "Showtime: LSU's Spectacular Pistol Pete" while celebrating the 2024 LA Sports Hall of Fame inductees at the LSHOF Welcome Reception.\n\n\n\nDuring his record shattering career at LSU (1967-70)\, the incomparable Peter Press Maravich\, better known as "Pistol Pete"\, captivated basketball fans not only with his incredible scoring ability but also with his sensational showmanship. He averaged 44.2 points per game in three seasons while playing for his father Press Maravich\, then the Tigers' head coach. The "oohs and aaahs" came loud and often as Pete astounded fans\, opponents and even teammates with his incredible ball-handling and passing ability and an array of free-style moves that mystified defenders. \n\n\n\nThis exhibition explores the life and legacy of Pistol Pete through the images of John Musemeche and Musemeche Photography in Baton Rouge. In 1969\, Musemeche published Maravich\, the first booj about the "wizard of aahs". The still-active photographer and his son\, Rob\, are regarded among Louisiana's premier sports photographers. John Musemeche's reflections on Maravich also play a key role in filmmaker Drew Tewell's short documentary about Pistol Pete\, "We Were Fans"\, which is included in his exhibition. \n\n\n\nPlease visit our FLASH B page or call (318) 357-2492 for more information. The exhibition was made possible with funding from the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation and Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers. \n\n\n\nFor more information on these events\, including tickets\, visit www.lasportshall.com.
