NPL Parenting Skills: Growing Up With Screens - Helping Children Thrive

NPL will host the first installment of a new community parenting skills series on Wednesday, May 21, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on the second floor of NPL's Main Branch, located at 450 Second Street. Presented by Mind Over Matters, a consortium of Natchitoches - based mental health specialists, the program Growing Up with Screens: Helping Children Thrive will offer practical strategies for managing screen time for children from pre-k through eighth grade.
This free public forum unites five local specialists in child development to address on of the most pressing challenges facing families today. Featured participants include Tiffaney Allen (Social Worker, Natchitoches Jr. High), Chelsea Calhoun (School Support Specialist, M.R. Weaver Elementary), Charidy Melder (Counselor, Natchitoches Central High), Nikki Porterie (Social Worker, L.P. Vaughn Elementary), and Cindy Allen (Licensed Professional Counselor, Mind Over Matters). Parents are encouraged to take an active role in the discussion, sharing questions, experiences, and strategies with the goal of finding screen time solutions that work for every family. Attendees will also have the opportunity to suggest topics for future sessions in the series.
