Minimum Qualifications
-
•Must hold a master's degree accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) or a Ph.D. in Social Work.
•Must have the equivalent of two years or more full-time post-master's degree professional experience. A minimum of two years full-time post-CSWE accredited master's degree experience in social work practice is required to teach "practice" courses. Previous teaching experience preferred.
•Must hold a Social Work License or Credential with Louisiana preferred.
•Must be proficient in computer word processing and other technologies.
•Must be effective in teaching the assigned subject material.
•Must possess skills to become proficient in curriculum development, instruction, online instruction, evaluation, and academic counseling.
•Must meet the required standards defined by the University. -
Job Duties and Other Information

•Be committed to excellence in teaching, service, professional growth, and scholarship.
•Teaching load is 15 hours per semester with 100% designation in the MSW program. Some teaching assignments may be for the BSW program as requested by the Department Head.
•Work with the MSW Program Director on the MSW accreditation with the Council on Social Work Education.
•Submit all required documentation, e.g. course syllabi, to the department administrative assistant each semester.
•Provide course instruction in accordance with the course syllabus and department guidelines.
•Utilize a variety of proven teaching methods appropriate to the targeted domain of learning.
•Maintain assigned class schedules.
•Evaluate students and report progress in a timely manner.
•Participate in periodic review of course materials and in course development/revision.
•Serve as an academic advisor and mentor for social work students.
•Maintain required office hours of eight face-to-face and two online hours per week, and, during business hours, be attentive to departmental communications and flow of departmental work.
•Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development, including attending local, state, regional, and/ or national conferences.
•Engage in scholarly activities including research, presentations, publication, and grant writing.
•Actively engage in service to the social work department by assuming leadership of departmental initiatives.
•Demonstrate knowledge of university, departmental, and program goals and objectives.
•Participate in faculty meetings.
•Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
•Engage in departmental, college, university, community, and professional service.
•Participate in student recruitment activities.
•Adhere to the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics and the Rules, Standards, and Procedures of the Louisiana Social Work Practice Act.
•Maintain confidentiality relative to student grades and information, in accordance with federal laws and departmental policy.
•Represent the department in a professional manner in all activities.
•Acknowledging and complying with those mandates of the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana which regulate the activity and employment of state employees including but not limited to the "Code of Governmental Ethics", "LA R.S. 42:1101 et seq", and "Dual Office Holding and Dual Office Holding, and Dual Employment LA R.S. 42:61 et seq".
