DESCRIPTION:The Christmas Tour of Homes is a holiday tour of uniquely decorated properties in Natchitoches\, Louisiana. The event will feature docent-led commentaries on the history of each property as well as the unique holiday decorations. The Christmas Tour of Homes is a self-guided walking tour. You may begin at any of the 3 properties listed below. There will be docents to guide you through the interior of each venue. The entire tour takes between 2.5 and 3 hours. Please plan accordingly.\n\nWe invite you to experience the charm of historic Natchitoches during this annual holiday event. Proceeds from the tour benefit restoration of properties in the Natchitoches Parish area.\n\n*Saturday tickets include a complimentary ticket to The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum located at 800 Front Street.\n\nTours will NOT be cancelled due to rain or bad weather. Be sure to pack and umbrella!\n\nTickets are $25/person. Children under 12 are free. "Print at home" is the only delivery option available for admission tickets purchased in advance. Your emailed receipt is your ticket. You can also display these tickets on your phone when you arrive. We keep accurate records of all ticket holders should your emailed receipt be lost.\n\nYou may begin your tour at any of the 3 properties featured. Prud'homme-Rouquier House (446 rue Jefferson) Francois Rouquier built this extraordinary home in 1790. His home was considered a showplace of its time\, containing more elaborate architectural details than other structures in the area. It is the largest bousillage structure in North America. The Service League of Natchitoches curates a unique presentation of local history\, art\, and Christmas traditions to inspire visitors to come back year after year. Scott Corner House (104 rue Poete)Built circa 1900 in classic Creole style with West Indies influence\, this three story raised plantation house has a double gallery\, lower level brick columns\, and hipped roof. The decor includes nearly 300 pieces of pottery imported from Poland\, and Clementine Hunter art and relics. Approximately 30 trees decorated for the season adorn the period d cor on the first and second floors of the Scott Corner House.\n\n3. Lemee House (310 rue Jefferson) The Lemee House is one of Natchitoches' most beautiful and important historic homes. Built in 1837\, the home has been many things to many people\; first a home\, then a bank\, and ultimately the spark that would ignite the preservation movement in Natchitoches. Join the Calico Belles as they recreate the rich history of this historic home. The Lemee House was also Ouiser's home in the movie\, Steel Magnolias (not to be confused with The Steel Magnolias House next door.)
