The School of Education at Northwestern State University is seeking an individual for a full-time 9-month tenure track position as an Instructor/ Assistant Professor in Education beginning January 5, 2026. Salary is $50,000 -$60,000.

Minimum Qualifications
-
The candidate should hold at least a master's degree in education that resulted from advanced study beyond an initial teacher certification degree. (Note: Master of Arts in Teaching or other graduate degrees through which initial teacher certification was earned are not advanced study degrees). Strong preference will be given to the individual with a terminal degree in Education; 10 years' experience in the PK-12 classroom required; literacy experience preferred.

Job Duties and Other Information

Coordinate and participate in departmental development, recruitment of students, and other professional endeavors germane to the mission of the unit within the University (NSide View, Career Day, etc.).

Teach all classes (12-15 credit hours per semester) as assigned by Director or Dean in a manner that will fully promote academic excellence.

Serve as academic advisor for elementary education students.
-
Coordinate Elementary Education Program.

Support the President, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dean in carrying out their responsibilities.
-
Participate in all official Northwestern State University functions as determined for you by the President, Vice President, Dean, or Director (e.g., commencement, faculty in service, registration, and any called meetings).

Maintain required work week as determined by the Dean or Director.

Maintain a collegial relationship with peers, colleagues, staff, and administrators throughout the University.

Acknowledge and agree to comply with all University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors' policies.
-
Participate in annual FAR review including a self-assessment.
-
Engage in teaching, research, and service activities.
-
Collaborate with faculty and community stakeholders for program improvement.
-
Participate in program governance at the College and University levels as well as contribute to one's professional organizations.

Serve on University, College, and Department committees.

Provide assistance in writing and submitting documents and reports associated with accreditation.
