Exhibit by Ana Garcia Pascual/NSU Student

“Mi Punto de Vista,” an exhibition of photographs and graphic design work by Northwestern State University student Ana Garcia Pascual, will open with a reception from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 26 in Gallery II, adjacent to Northwestern State’s Hanchey Gallery. 
 
Pascual is a foreign exchange student from Nigrán, Spain, located at the province of Pontevedra, in the region of Galicia. 
 
“Mi punto de vista" (‘My point of view’) is a show of 20 pieces of photography and graphic design that I've been working on during these months in NSU,” Pascual said.  “The pictures express the way I see the campus. By playing with layers, colors and different focuses I'm trying to get another view of this wonderful campus here in Natchitoches. I think there are amazing things to take pictures of and I wanted to reflect that magical essence with my camera. I think that these pictures transmit sadness but also good vibes, and I'm glad to have found that balance.
 
Pascual experiments with textures, colors and typography using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator programs to create graphic design pieces.
 
“The pieces are based on songs and feelings and I wanted to transmit an abstract idea of them. Maybe something that only I could deeply understand but that if someone see it, could get the idea of what I'm trying to transmit and make their own interpretation,” she said.
 
Pascual’s reception will coincide with the delayed opening of the annual student juried show that was cancelled last week due to weather.  Sponsored by Kappa Pi International Honorary Art Fraternity, Gamma Mu Chapter, this year’s exhibition was juried by artist Sarah Hewitt of Santa Fe, N.M.  This year’s exhibit will feature 37 works by undergraduate and graduate art students at Northwestern State.
