LA Historic Bridges Project Informational Meeting
Announcing an exciting study of Louisiana's historic bridges!
Historic vehicular bridges are an important part of Louisiana’s culture and transportation history. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD), in coordination with the State Historic Preservation Office and the Federal Highway Administration, has commissioned this project to study historic bridges that are on the LADOTD inventory throughout the state and develop a process to manage and preserve these valued resources. Mead & Hunt, a national consulting firm that specializes in historic bridges, will assist in the preparation of the Historic Bridge Inventory.
How can you participate?
This is an exciting project for our state and we need your help! If you have information about a publicly owned bridge in your community that has local historical interest, please tell us about it. Copies of newspaper articles, historical information, and photos related to specific bridges are also welcome. To share your information, download and complete the Louisiana Bridge Inventory Form. You can also participate by attending a scheduled public meeting to learn more about the project, share your information, and ask questions.Thursday, August 9, 2012 - 6:00pm
