On March 15, Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne will open 'Faces of Natchitoches', a Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum exhibition celebrating the Natchitoches Tri-centennial. A reception, hosted by Friends of Louisiana Sports and History and underwritten by the Louisiana Museum Foundation and The Natchitoches Tri-Centennial Steering Committee, will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The public opening continues Sunday, March 16, with a talk by Louisiana State Museum historian Joyce Miller at 1:30 p.m. and free admission to the exhibit from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition allows contemporary residents to tell their stories and present their views of history. Much of the exhibition consists of photographs of the residents' past and present?who created this unique community. The Museum invited residents to bring photographs, scrapbooks, crafts, letters, paintings and other items to compose the exhibition. Artifacts on display include a toy sewing machine, a Confederate Schenkl shell, an 1864 edition of the Natchitoches Union Daily and a variety of buttons and memorabilia. Free and Open to the Public.
