Lunchtime Lagniappe: The Lore Behind the Score - Exploring the Folklore of Sports

Sports are rich with folklore - from game-day traditions and superstitions to legends about extraordinary athletes and objects treasured by fans. Join folklorist and LSHOF & NW LA History Muesum Director Dr. Emily Bryant as she explores how sports communities express their creativity and shared identities through oral traditions, customs and material culture.
Dr. Emily Bryant is the branch director of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum. She holds a Ph.D. in folklore, with a focus on material culture, from Indiana University, where she also completed a minor in studio art. She holds additional degrees in anthropology and journalism. Her research interests include material culture, folk art, dress and adornment, and the ways objects express personal and cultural identity.
