Mounds Plantation and the Early Caddo People of NW Louisiana

Mounds Plantation and the Early Caddo People of NW Louisiana

We can trace the Caddo cultural tradition back about a thousand years.  One of the largest, and undoubtedly most important, places in northwest Louisiana beginning in the 10th century A.D. is located in northern Caddo Parish, and now known as Mounds Plantation.  The site was one of the first major residential and ceremonial centers of the emerging Caddo culture.  Please join us at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum as Jeff Girard, state regional archaeologist and  assistant professor at Northwestern State University, shows images and discusses archaeological investigations at the site, as well as the implications for understanding the early Caddo peoples.
