MARGIE TATE – Featured Artist – September/October
The Natchitoches Art Guild and Gallery
Presents a Featured Artist Exhibition, entitled “Color Poetry” by member artist Margie Tate during the entire months of September and October. Margie lives in McNary, between Forest Hill and Glenmora in central Louisiana. She has been a member of NAGG for a year and a half and has served the Natchitoches Art Guild as
an officer and board member during 2011. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1982 and has continued her study of painting under well-known teachers in various workshops and classes over the years. She feels that maturing as a painter is a lifetime process, constantly evolving and learning. She has exhibited her work extensively in solo, group, and juried shows and has won many awards, including Best of Show in the 2011 Natchitoches Art Guild Juried Show.
Her exhibit of recent oil and watercolor paintings shows her love of color, nature and light. Though her subject matter is varied, she feels that each painting is a concentrated effort to transcend the ordinary in everyday life and find beauty, poetry and an emotional response. The show includes over twenty-five new pieces never exhibited anywhere.
The public is invited to the reception to meet the artist on Sunday, September 18 from 2-4 p.m. The dress is casual. The show will continue through the end of October. The gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 352-1626.
