NPL Book Signing: Lawrence Irchirl Jr.

Natchitoches native Lawrence Irchirl Jr. will sign copies of his debut poetry collection, Poetic Peace: The Heart-felt Edition, at the Natchitoches Parish Library's (NPL) Main Branch on Saturday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Poetic Peace spans Irchirl's youth and early adulthood, weaving original verse with retrospective commentary to trace the full arc of his personal journey, the highs and the lows alike. More than a collection of poems, the book is structured as an invitation: a curated path through lived experience, designed to offer readers something genuinely restorative.
"I started structuring the book so that it wouldn't only show the good times but show the lows," Irchirl said. "I didn't want to just showcase the polished product, I thought the story should start at the beginning. I always smile and remember that I had to start somewhere."
The signing offers the community a chance to meet Irchirl in person, hear the story behind the work, and take home a piece of local literary history. Copies of Poetic Piece will be available for purchase at the event, and the collection is also available for checkout at the NPL Main Branch.
