What:  Reading on the River-A fun day of book-related activities for parents and children to attend together.
 
Where:  On the beautiful Downtown Natchitoches Riverfront, next to the Green Market

Slated activities:
Art and Literacy
Young children begin their literacy journey with picture books so art is a natural extension of that.  Experiment with different art media.
 
Reading a Recipe
Fun activities that demonstrate the necessity of reading in day-to-day life. 
Make a yummy treat by following a recipe.
 
Music Makes it Happen
Miss Mary Mack makes fun with sounds so much MORE fun with hand-clapping, rhythm and song!
 
Acting Out
How will the Little Red Hen get her food made? 
Children act out this story creating an ending that might surprise you!
 
NSU Athletes will encourage children to help them
Just Do It!
There?s no point in just sitting there.  Do an activity based on a cool book.
 
Science Fun
Non-fiction comes to life as children conduct a science experiment based on a book
 
Choose a free book to take home with you!
Meet children?s authors and get your book autographed!
Pet a real live baby alligator!
Tour the library?s bookmobile!
Sit in a real fire truck!
Tour the many family-oriented information booths from local businesses!
