Reception honoring JoAnne Thompson, Natchitoches Art Guilds Oct. Guest Artist
October Guest Artist JoAnne Thompson

Alexandria, Louisiana, native JoAnne Thompson has accepted the invitation of the Natchitoches Art Guild to serve as the Guest Artist for October. Her portfolio contains works in oils, pastels, and watercolor, but she currently works primarily with acrylic paints. Thompson is a member of the Contemporary Artists Guild and a resident artist with the Arts and Healthcare organization where she works with patients at the Cabrini Cancer Center in Alexandria. Additionally, she offers instruction in acrylic painting at the River Oaks Art Academy.
She is influenced by painters of realism, illustrators, and portraitists, and is often found, camera in hand, capturing images to transform into her own visions of artistic expression. Mrs. Thompson states, “Visual images perpetuate memories. Lovely images inspire art. Our world is an ever changing one - flowers bloom and die, people age, traditional cultures become diluted, and natural landscapes vanish. I hope my art will capture the loveliest of times."
She has exhibited her work in galleries in Jasper, TX, Winnfield, and Lake Charles, Louisiana. The works in her “Floral Celebrations” exhibit will be on display in the Natchitoches Art Gallery from October 3, 2011 to November 4, 2011. Please join the member of the Natchitoches Art Guild in welcoming her to our city by attending a reception in her honor on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00.
