A recognition ceremony will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18 to honor this year’s group of Natchitoches Treasures.
The recognition ceremony will take place on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Natchitoches Events Center, located at 750 Second St. The public is invited to attend this recognition ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.
The Natchitoches Treasures are a group of Natchitoches residents whom are of retirement age or deceased within the last year; who have made a lasting contribution to the community through their generosity, service, volunteerism or spirit.
This year’s Natchitoches Treasures were selected by those who have previously been named as a Natchitoches Treasure. They were selected from nominations that were received from the community. This year’s Treasures are:
Rev. Sophie Packard, Joe Sampite, Lori Tate, Ginny Tobin, and Leo Walker, Sr.
The recognition ceremony will also pay tribute to those individuals who were named as Natchitoches Treasures in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011. Those individuals are:
Dora Belton, Fern Christensen, Terrel Delphin, Rev. Joseph Dupree, Troy Durr, Sonny Evans, Norm Fletcher, Orin Foster, Merry Jo Grayson, Betty Jones, Willard Jones, Walter Ledet, Rev. G. Stanley Lewis, Marilyn McMurtry, Pearl Payne, Margie Pierson, Rev. James Poole, Marie Roque, Idell Snowden and the late Raymond Christensen, Bobby DeBlieux, Saidee Newell, Joe Pierson, Dorothy Presley, Bob Wangenstein, Paul Morgan, Maxine Southerland, Arthur Welch, and Dr. Raymond Gilbert.
