Louisiana has a long tradition of excellence in high school sports. In January of 2016, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association made headlines when the LHSAA voted to expand the Select/Non-Select playoff system used in football to other sports, including basketball. Join the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum, in partnership with the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, for a moderated discussion of the topic with local high school administrators and coaches about the new system. The program is FREE and open to the public as part of our “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America” exhibit programming. The program is part of our “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America” exhibit programming. The exhibit captures the stories that unfold on the neighborhood fields and courts, and the underdog heroics, larger-than-life legends, fierce rivalries and gut-wrenching defeats. “Hometown Teams” is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.
