Summer Reading Program at Your Natchitoches Parish Library

NATCHITOCHES- Dream Big at your Natchitoches Parish Library this summer with the 2012 Summer Reading Program.
Kids up to age 12 are invited to come to the Library, located at 450 Second St., to participate in the “Dream Big-Read!” Louisiana Summer Reading Program, a weekly program that includes entertainment by professional performers, books and prizes. Registration for the 2012 Summer Reading Program will begin June 1 and continue throughout the entire month of June. Summer Reading Program performances will be held every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. beginning June 6 and every Thursday at 10 a.m.  For a complete schedule of performances log on to our website at www.youseemore.com/natchitoches or stop by for a visit at 450 Second St. in Natchitoches.
Participants who complete the reading log will get a Summer Reading Program   t-shirt or book bag if the child’s size is unavailable, a reading certificate and their name will be entered into the grand prize drawing. All reading logs MUST be turned in by July 31st to qualify for the grand prize drawing.
Following the completion of the reading log, a participant will be re-entered into the drawing for the grand prize after every 10th book completed. There will be two grand prize drawings at the completion of the Louisiana Summer Reading Program. One drawing will be for Listeners, or children who have not yet learned to read, and one drawing for Readers, those who are able to read on their own.
The Natchitoches Parish Library Bookmobile will also host Summer Reading Programs in two locations, Martin Luther King Center in Natchitoches and Campti Community Development Center in Natchitoches. The MLK Center will host programs beginning at 10 a.m. on June 5 & 19.  The Campti Community Development Center will host programs beginning at 11 a.m. on June 12 & 26.
The Out on a Limb Improv Troupe from Northwestern State University will be the entertainment in the both areas.
Contributions by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, Louisiana Division of the Arts, the State Library of Louisiana, and the Friends of the Natchitoches Parish Library have made the 2012 Summer Reading Program at the Natchitoches Parish Library possible. The Louisiana Summer Reading Program at the Natchitoches Parish Library is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.
Families are urged to call the Natchitoches Parish Library at (318) 357-3280 or log onto the Web site at www.youseemore.com/natchitoches to learn more about the enriching, entertaining and educational programs available free of charge this summer.
