Texas & Pacific Railway Depot Open House

Join Cane River Creole National Historical Park and Cane River National Heritage Area for a special Community Open House on Thursday, June 18!
Explore the newly renovated Texas & Pacific Railway Depot, now serving as the park's visitor center, and discover interactive exhibits that share the rich history, personal stories, and lives experiences connected to the depot, Oakland Plantation, and Magnolia Plantion.
The event will begin with brief remarks highlighting the significance of the depot and the community's decades-long effort to preserve this historic landmark. Visitors are then invited to enjoy the exhibits through a self-guided experience.
Reservation-Only Behind the Scenes Tour
Take a rare guided tour of the park's Curation Facility, where museum staff will showcase artifacts, archives, and preservation techniques that help protect the history and culture of the Cane River region. Participants will have the opportunity to view objects and documents that provide a tangible connection to the people who lives and worked at Oakland and Magnolia Plantations.
Come experience the stories, resilience, and history that shaped the Cane River community and helped define the American experience.
