Were Players Really Less Skilled - The context begind the evolution of basketball

When looking back at old NBA film, it's easy to dismiss the star players of the past as less skilled than today's stars. This talk explores how many of the glaring differences int he way in the game was played are better explained by the trends of each era and the rules that were enforced, rahter than by a lack of skill. We will discuss rule changes involving dribbling, the infamous traveling rule and its many interpretations over the years, the growing value of the three-point shot, and the defensive rules that have contributed to fluctuations in the offensive efficiency throughout the league's history.
Tanner Thibodaux, a native of Eunice, Louisiana, graduated from Northwestern State University's Louisiana Scholar's College in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a concentration in Social Studies. A former teacher and coach at Provencal Junior High School, Tanner has volunteered with the Louisiana's Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum and served as an assistant for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation. He plans to pursue a master's degree in Sports Administration at the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
