We are seeking a Supply Chain Analyst Intern to support our Strategic Sourcing and Purchasing team 0n-site at our Coushatta, LA location. This part-time role requires approximately 20 hours per week
The ideal candidate is a Mechanical or Industrial Engineering student or recent graduate who has completed coursework in supply chain management or has relevant sourcing or purchasing experience. The intern will play a key role in managing vendor relationships, analyzing data, and contributing to cost-savings initiatives across our supply chain processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Strategic Sourcing/Purchasing Manager to create and manage RFPs, perform follow-ups, and assist in the bidding process for mechanical components.
- Conduct data analysis and quote comparisons, synthesizing results into clear presentations for team reviews.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering and Quality, to support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and design improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction.
- Participate in supplier visits and vendor evaluations, providing valuable support in assessing vendor capabilities and performance.
- Maintain an organized repository of vendor documents and assist with the vendor addition process, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Perform initial negotiations with vendors to achieve competitive pricing, challenging vendors on pricing adjustments where necessary.
Qualifications
- Education - Bachelor's in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, with coursework or experience in supply chain management is preferred.
- Technical skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, data analytics, and VLOOKUPs; ERP knowledge is a plus.
- Analytical skills - A data-driven mindset with strong analytical abilities for interpreting complex data and presenting insights.
- Soft skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills, creativity, enthusiasm, and a collaborative attitude.
