The School of Education at Northwestern State University is seeking an individual for a full-time 9-month tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in Counselor Education beginning August 11, 2025. Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications
-
The candidate should hold a doctoral degree in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program, or have related doctoral degrees and have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year. ABO candidates may be considered for a temporary position until completion of the degree. Strong preference will be given to the individual with a strong clinical background; scholarly productivity; and previous professional experience as a clinical counselor. Previous professional experience in a graduate program with an online instructional component is highly desirable. LPC license (or licensure eligibility) by the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselor Board of Examiners is essential. -

Develop and teach core and specialty graduate courses in the program rotation on the Natchitoches campus and satellite campuses (as needed); summer teaching probable. -
Engage in teaching, research, and service activities along with other activities for Annual Faculty Review and the Retention, Tenure, and Promotion process. -
Maintain Graduate Faculty Status. -
Teaches 12-15 credit hours per semester. -
Direct thesis and/or the project-in-lieu of thesis. -
Recruit, advise, and mentor graduate students. -
Coordinate and supervise clinical practicum and internship experiences. -
Work closely with other School, College, and University faculty and staff. -
Participate in program governance at the School, College, and University levels as well as contribute to one's professional organizations in counseling at the local,
state, and national levels. -
Serve on School, College, and University committees. -
Provide assistance in writing and submitting documents and reports associated with accreditation. -
Other duties as assigned.
