Crossing Guard
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 25 years of age
- Must be able to hold a hand-held stop sign above their head in an upright position while in the roadway
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must receive a minimum of twenty hours and instruction before performing the duties of a crossing guard. Thereafter, an annual additional one hour of instruction is required.
- Must be able to complete time sheets, read and understand written instructions.
- Must possess the ability to work effectively with children.
- Fulfilling job requirements outdoors in all weather, including rain, fog, snow, sleet, cold, heat, humidity and wind.
- Must assist students by recognizing natural gaps in motor vehicle traffic patterns and safely enlarging natural traffic gaps.
- Must be able to display good judgement and respond quickly to emergencies.
- Recognize and communicate potentially dangerous traffic situations and hazards in the environment.
- Must have the ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services.
