PDM Specialist
One position for an hourly Predictive Maintenance Specialist within the Maintenance Department is now open at the Natchitoches EWP mill. The qualified candidate would have comprehensive knowledge of rotating equipment and a willingness to become an expert in vibration analysis, alignment, balancing, non-destructive testing, data assessment, and bearings. This position will help to develop reliability and operational excellence to ensure continuous process improvement, including training individuals on the basics of their skills sets to further develop reliability-centered maintenance at the mill. This role would report to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor.
The wage for this role is $34.24 per hour.

KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Support the site by consistently improving reliability to meet operational excellence and reliability goals through proven maintenance practices, new technology and innovative thinking.
- Work with a team of electricians and millwrights to troubleshoot and repair complex problems, deliver preventative and routine maintenance on plant equipment, create innovative solutions to complex issues, and work on capital projects.
- Use vibration analysis technologies (route/non-route analysis, data collection, bump testing, ODS analysis, high frequency enveloping (HFE), online vibration monitoring analysis).
- Become expert in rotating equipment installation and troubleshooting.
- Use alignment techniques (conventional and laser) during equipment setup and troubleshooting.
- Test equipment through various testing protocol such as resonance testing, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant NDT; ultrasonic testing; air flow and particle testing.
- Provide each department with field balancing including the use of dynamic balancing techniques.
- Use knowledge of bearings and gears to provide root cause analysis of failures, designation, application, and proper installation.
- Train and develop others in lubrication technology, vibration analysis, alignment, balancing, non-destructive testing, data assessment, and bearings.
- Participate in housekeeping safety initiatives, to include exhibiting safe work practices and helping others work safely.
- Utilize SAP to track and adhere to maintenance best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform daily reliability walk and identify issues.
- Engage operators for recurring problems (Maintenance and Production issues).
- Document findings and create notifications for repair.
- Follow up with any SMP needs that arise and make the proper corrections.
- Perform air leak surveys and document leaks. Create Notifications for repair.
- Complete pre-downshift inspections (visual, air, thermal).
- Assist and train technicians on alignments and precision work.
- Verify that alignment check sheets are complete.
- Ensure proper lubrication on critical equipment. (Equipment that vibration data is collected from).
- Complete Natchitoches vibration route and upload data.
- Identify and report abnormal conditions.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies in vibration program.
- Optimize 3 PM work orders (Press, I-Line, Products).
- Improve clarity, torque specs, and inspection steps.
- Review JI's for accuracy and make improvements if necessary.
- Accompany Vendors when they do a vibration route or other repairs/inspections.
- Creation of JI’s when there are no existing processes or new processes are discovered.
- Ensure a minimum of three bolting and fastening work orders are submitted and meet the requirements of the SMP and any applicable Modifiers.
- Minimum 3 Bolting and Fastening work orders per month that meet criteria, 3 PM optimizations per month, 100% alignment documentation and all issues entered into SAP.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in an industrial setting.
- Four (4) or more years of experience and/or equivalent education/training.
- Be willing to get MLA1 certified within a year of taking on this role.
- Willing and able to travel for training (10%).
- An updated resume or detailed list of work history and education is required for consideration.
- Experience using DMS or similar vibration software vibration software.
- Experience in vibration, bearings, and gear analysis.
- Experience in alignment and balancing.
- Experience with ultrasound and thermography.
- Understand and operate Emerson 2140 vibration tool or certified within a year of taking on this role.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical operations (pumps, fans, flows, etc.) and use of technical math skills preferred.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
