Chief of Fire Prevention

Description:
The City of Natchitoches Fire Department is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to serve as Chief of Fire Prevention. This position is responsible for overseeing the department's Fire prevent programs, including inspections, investigations, and public Fire safety education, to help protect the community and ensure compliance with Fire codes. 

Responsibilities:
Plans, organize, train, and direct the Fire Prevention Division. Oversee public fire education programs, fire inspections, and fire investigations. Provides community outreach and public relations to promote fire safety awareness. Prepare reports, correspondence, and the division's operating budget. Supervises assigned personnel, coordinates division activities, and reports directly to the Fire Chief.

Qualifications: 
Must meet all requirements of the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service, including being a U.S. citizen and of a legal age. Applicants must pass a post-offer physical examination to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. A high school diploma, equivalent certificate, or higher education credential is required. Louisiana applicants presenting a home study diploma must provide documentation from BESE. A valid driver's license is required. Applicants must also have at least three (3) years of full-time work experience with a paid Fire department or other Fire service-related organization with primary duties in Fire prevention.
