BPCC Receives National Caring Campus Award for Commitment to Student Success

Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) has been selected to receive the prestigious Heart of the Community Award in recognition of the institution’s exceptional commitment to fostering a culture of care and belonging that supports student success. The award, given by the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC), was presented during the 2025 Caring Campus National Conference held in San Diego, CA last week.

The Heart of the Community Award honors colleges that demonstrate exemplary dedication to building welcoming, student-centered environments. BPCC’s recognition highlights the college’s ongoing efforts to embed care, connection, and student support strategies across every area of campus life. The award also serves to inspire institutions nationwide that are working toward the shared vision of creating learning environments where every student feels valued.

“We’re proud to be part of a national movement that places care and belonging at the heart of student success,” said BPCC Chancellor Dr. Rick Bateman, Jr. “This honor affirms the meaningful work our faculty and staff engage in every day to ensure students are seen, supported, and empowered to reach their goals. We believe that when students feel like they matter, they thrive, and this award reflects BPCC’s dedication to making that belief a reality.”

BPCC’s Caring Campus initiatives have strengthened student engagement, increased access to resources, and expanded opportunities for connection, all contributing to the college’s mission to improve lives and strengthen the community it serves.
