NRMC Earns An "A: Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center (NRMC) earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog. Leapfrog assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D" or "F" grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. This new grade for fall 2024 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety.

"I would like to congratulate our entire team on this outstanding achievement," started Kirk Soileau, NRMC CEO. "At NRMC, we have created a culture of safety. We constantly measure every aspect of patient care. This "A" grade from The Leapfrog Group demonstrates our commitment to patient safety."

"Keeping patients safe is our top priority. Our team of associates is actively engaged in preventing medical errors and protecting our patients from avoidable harm," explained Sarah LaCour, NRMC Chief Nursing Officer. "From handwashing protocols and medication checks to fall prevention and patient education, we, as a team, focus on the little details that make a big impact. This "A" grade distinction and honor belongs to every associate on our team."

"Achieving an 'A' Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Natchitoches Regional Medical Center," said Lead Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "It reflects enormous dedication to patients and their families, and the whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to NRMC, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first."

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Group stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
