Administrative Assistant 2

The Department of New Media, Journalism, and Communication Arts at Northwestern State University is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant 2. This role provides clerical and administrative support to faculty and staff, helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the department. We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills who thrives in a collaborative academic environment.

Minimum Qualifications

 

One year of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for six months of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
• Per the Department Head's direction, provide administrative and secretarial support for other departmental faculty or staff as needed.
• Ability to work independently or with specific guidelines for non-routine assignments.
• Record keeping for routine departmental operations such as departmental budgets, payroll, travel, supplies/equipment, keys, textbook orders, class scheduling, meetings, and other activities as directed by the Department Head.
• Maintenance and security of departmental files, including files with confidential or sensitive information.
• Administrative support for inventory and key control, and for usage and upkeep of departmental facilities and classrooms.
• Supervision of student workers and submission of required records for time and payroll for departmental student workers, staff, and faculty.

Position-Specific Details:
Appointment type: Full-time, Probational
Work schedule:  Schedule is Monday-Friday with some flexibility.
Work location: Department of New Media, Journalism, and Communication. This is an on-site full-time role, on the NSU Natchitoches Campus.
