Northwestern State University of Louisiana Department of English, Languages, and Cultural Studies in Natchitoches, LA, is seeking applicants to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Spanish (tenure track) with a starting date of August 10, 2026.
The position's teaching responsibilities are expected to include introductory and intermediate. Spanish language courses for minors and non-minors, and more specialized classes in Spanish, including classes in grammar, composition, and civilization. Therefore, we seek a candidate who will provide high-quality instruction in undergraduate Spanish courses, in both face-to-face and online settings. Teaching load will be 5/5. Candidates also should demonstrate a willingness to assist with the recruitment and retention of students, interest in service to the Department, and dedication to a promising research agenda.

Ph.D. in Spanish preferred, ABO considered.

Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.

The ability to teach Spanish courses at the undergraduate level.

The ability to teach another French or another high-need language-with at least 18 hours of graduate study in that language-is preferred but not required for this position.
