Material Handler
Position Summary:
The Material Handler will be responsible for the loading and movement of product to meet the shipping schedule. Performing duties primarily in the product load-out area and the coal unloading and handling system. The Material Handler will have various responsibilities throughout their assigned areas, which includes bagging IN and OUT of product, preparing shipments of finished product by loading into bulk trailers, operating equipment to move and position bulk trailers for loading, coordinating the activities required to unload coal trucks into the coal handling system, monitoring the lignite auto sampler and collecting lignite samples. The Material Handler will be responsible for verifying equipment readiness, operating equipment, support control room operators and conduct other field assignments. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment and conducting daily preventive maintenance for bulk storage bins, conveyer belts, dust collector systems, and other equipment to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe work environment and maintain housekeeping in assigned areas.
- Prioritize loading and handling activities for timely and correct product loading.
- Coordinating activities associated with coal deliveries and carbon loading.
- Take samples of raw materials and finished product for testing and deliver to the lab for analysis.
- Operate equipment to load activated carbon into trucks.
- Make rounds in the plant to check instruments and equipment to make sure of correct operation. Attend to any abnormal operating conditions and report problems that require maintenance attention.
- Make minor adjustments to plant equipment to optimize operation.
- Maintain records for product handling, storage and delivery to customer.
- Willing and able to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
- Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- UNDERSTANDING AND INTERPRETING WRITTEN MATERIAL: Ability to read, understand, and interpret written material and instructions.
- STANDARD READING SKILL to support effective oral communication.
- COMMUNICATION: Ability to convey (verbally or in writing) and/or understand clear instructions and accurate descriptive information.
- TEAM PLAYER: Able to work as part of a team.
- TOOLS AND READING OF SCALES AND GAUGES: Ability to recognize or identify basic tools and their common uses, and for the ability to accurately read various types of dials, scales, and gauges.
