The Department of Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University of Louisiana seeks applications from enthusiastic individuals interested in a 12-month Instructor and Lab Coordinator position beginning September 16, 2024.

Preference will be given to applicants with prior university teaching, and industrial experiences. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Shall be qualified to teach in the field of study.
  • Shall be effective in teaching the assigned subject material.
  • Shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
  • Shall be proficient in curriculum development, instruction, evaluation, and academic counseling.
  • Shall have a minimum of an MS (or equivalent) degree with 5 years of relevant professional experience in Industrial Engineering or a closely relevant field.
  • Shall be authorized to work in the United States.

 

Job Concepts

 

  • Be committed to teaching, service, professional growth, and scholarship excellence.
  • Teaching all classes per semester as assigned by the Department Head in a manner that will fully promote academic excellence. Submit course outlines and objectives. Utilize a variety of proven teaching methods appropriate to pedagogy. Evaluate students and report progress. Participate in periodic reviews of course materials.
  • Developing and implementing lab inspections, cleaning, and supply procurement schedules while coordinating with maintenance staff and contractors for equipment upkeep and repairs, and managing student workers to organize, clean, and maintain lab equipment.
  • Develop industry partnerships, establish internship sites, and recruit and mentor students for the Advanced Manufacturing program. This role includes building an advisory committee and ensuring effective stakeholder collaboration to meet program goals.
  • Providing administrative support to university leadership in carrying out their responsibilities.
  • Actively participating in official university functions as determined by the President, Vice President, Dean, Director, and Department Head ( e.g., commencement, faculty institute, registration, recruitment events, and any called meetings).
  • Maintain class schedules and the required office hours as determined by the Department Head.
  • Advising and counseling students during required office hours and at other times and settings established by the Department Head.
  • Engaging in scholarly activities, including grant writing, research, publications, and presentations in the field of Engineering Technology.
  • Involvement in departmental development, assisting in student recruitment, and participating in professional endeavors aligned with the department's mission.
  • Participating in faculty meetings and serving on all appropriate program committees.
  • Maintaining appropriate expertise and competencies through continued professional development and periodic mandatory training.
  • Fostering collegial relationships with peers and colleagues throughout the University.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy.
