Northwestern State University's Financial Aid Office is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Verification Support Officer. Must be a self-starter with the ability to
organize and coordinate large workloads in a timely and effective manner. Must have strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to establish and maintain positive and
productive working relationships within the office and with all other members of the NSU community. It is essential for the successful candidate to be able to handle problem customers and or situations in a professional, composed, and effective manner. Must be flexible, show effective judgement, discretion and have the ability to handle confidential financial matters. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors' Degree or equivalent experience (combination of education, training, and related experience) required. 
  • Demonstrated customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to communicate and establish a rapport with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to give written and oral instruction in an understandable manner and ability to work independently is essential.

 

Job Concepts

 

  • Answer phone and counsel students and parents with questions concerning financial aid and scholarships.
  • Sort and routes mail to proper personnel.
  • Collects all forms and documents related to Financial Aid, and enters information into the appropriate FA system.
  • Maintain active and purged student files.
  • Recommend and update policies and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Process all Reports for Verification.
  • Review Verification files for complete or incompleteness.
  • Maintain Duplicate and Suspense Files within the Financial Aid Management System.
  • Determine and resolve conflicting information using professional judgment 
  • Completes other projects as assigned by the Associate Director or Director of Financial Aid/Scholarships
