Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree required with experience working in public relations or related area 
Prefer applicants with:
  • Experience working in an educational environment 
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability in working with high school and college age students
  • Demonstrated experience and active involvement in University activities, especially at the undergraduate level

     

 

Job Specification

All recruiters report directly to the Director of University Recruiting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES % OF TIME DESCRIPTION:

10%

  • Participation at all official NSU Events, especially those executed by the office including N-Side View Day, Literary Rally, Recruiting Receptions, Counselor Luncheons, Cheer Camps, and others deemed by the Director of Recruiting. 
40%
  • Coordinate with high school counselors to schedule visits, give Northwestern presentations, and attend career/college night programs at high schools located in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Administer campus tours throughout a working week and on weekends to accommodate students and their parents. 
20% 
  • Answer phones, fill requests, and assist in any office endeavors that may be required. 
10% 
  • Write, call, visit and follow up on all prospective students. 
10%
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly reports that evaluate individual accountability in student recruitment. 

 

Job Duties and Other Information

 

  • Student recruitment to include large and small group presentations for college day and night programs, as well as other established high school visits 
  • Establish and maintain contact with prospective applicants, parents, high school counselors and administrators
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly reports which evaluate individual accountability in student recruitment
  • Represent the University in a positive manner at all times 
  • Perform all job functions to an optimal degree to create a caring, student-oriented campus
  • Work-related travel, to include extensive overnight and some out-of-state training and conferences
  • Schedule and administer campus tours throughout a working week and weekends to accommodate students and parents
  • General involvement in other admissions and recruiting duties as assigned by the Director
